Worshippers in Voznesenovka Venerate the Icon of the Appearance of Christ

A service before the venerated icon was held at the Ascension prayer house. Local residents gathered to pray before the icon completed its journey across Kalmykia.

On 28 August, a service was held at the Ascension of the Lord prayer house in the village of Voznesenovka, Tselinny District, before the icon titled “The Appearance of the Lord Jesus Christ to Worshippers in the City of Elista.”

The service was celebrated by Priest Dionisy Baranov. Parishioners were able to venerate the icon and pray for their homeland, the health of their loved ones, and God’s help.

The priest spoke about the event that took place in Elista in 1946 and about Semyon Bondarenko, whose testimony formed the basis for the venerated image.

The icon’s stay in Voznesenovka completed its journey through the districts of Kalmykia. On 29 August, the icon was due to arrive at the Church of Sophia, the Wisdom of God, in Elista.
