A Square Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Appearance of Christ the Savior Opened in Elista

A square beside the Cathedral of Saints Cyril and Methodius was named for the 80th anniversary of the Appearance of Christ the Savior.

In Elista, it was decided to name the square next to the Cathedral of Saints Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius “The Square of the 80th Anniversary of the Appearance of Christ the Savior”.

The new name connects the urban space with the memory of the event of September 11, 1946. The square is located near the future cathedral dedicated to the spiritual patrons of Kalmykia.

The solution became one of the most notable urban projects of the anniversary year and retains the mention of the memorable date in the toponym of Elista.
