On March 1, the Kazan Cathedral in Elista consecrated the processional banner “The Appearance of Christ the Savior in Elista”. It was created to mark the 80th anniversary of the event, which took place at the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in 1946.

The rite of consecration was performed by Archbishop Justinian of Elista and Kalmykia after the Divine Liturgy on the Week of the Triumph of Orthodoxy. The processional banner features an embroidered image of the Savior in accordance with the local iconographic tradition.

After the consecration, the shrine was first carried along with other icons by a procession around the cathedral.
