The Remains of the Bondarenko Couple and the Icon of the Appearance of the Savior Were Brought to Troitskoye
The remains of the Bondarenko couple and the venerated icon were brought to Holy Trinity Church in Troitskoye, beside the square named for Semyon Bondarenko.
On 18 August, the recovered remains of Semyon and Maria Bondarenko were brought to Holy Trinity Church in Troitskoye. The icon “The Appearance of the Lord Jesus Christ in Elista” was also brought to the church.
Semyon Bondarenko was one of the witnesses to the Appearance of the Savior in 1946 and initiated the creation of the icon painted from eyewitness descriptions.
The icon was blessed, after which parishioners could pray before it and venerate the couple’s remains. The square beside the church was named for Semyon Bondarenko.
According to the source, the remains will stay at the church until 29 August and will then be interred on the grounds of the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Elista.
