On 14 August, a diocesan procession carrying the venerated icon “The Appearance of the Lord Jesus Christ to Those Praying” began at the Church of Saints Adrian and Natalia in Yashalta.

Archbishop Justinian of Elista and Kalmykia and Bishop Anthony of Volgodonsk and Salsk celebrated the Divine Liturgy. Residents of Yashalta and pilgrims from nearby communities prayed at the service.

The icon was brought from Elista’s Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Archbishop Justinian blessed its journey to Kalmykia’s district centers so that residents across the republic could take part in preparations for the 80th anniversary of the Appearance of Christ the Savior.

After the Liturgy, the venerated icon was carried around the church, and participants received information booklets about the 1946 event.
