The Icon of the Appearance of Christ the Savior Was Brought to Iki-Burul

A festive service before the icon was held in Iki-Burul, allowing local residents to venerate it ahead of the anniversary.

On 27 August, a festive service before the icon “The Appearance of Christ the Savior in Elista” was held at the Orthodox parish of Saint Matrona of Moscow in Iki-Burul.

Local residents prayed before and venerated the icon. Its journey through the republic’s parishes allows believers across Kalmykia to encounter the sacred image before the September celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Appearance of Christ the Savior in Elista.

The procession concludes on 29 August, the feast of the Image of the Savior Not Made by Hands. The icon associated with the 1946 event is kept in Elista’s Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
