Moscow Sretensky Monastery Choir Performs in Elista

On 10 September 2026, the Moscow Sretensky Monastery Choir performed at the A. N. Mandzhiev Kalmyk State Philharmonic. The choir presented its “We Have One Russia” programme as part of the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Appearance of Christ the Saviour in Elista.

The programme included sacred chants, military marches, folk songs and contemporary works. A special item was “The Sound of Bells”, written by composer Fyodor Stepanov to lyrics by Hieromonk Roman Mishin. The work was performed by the choir together with soloist Alexander Pripelitsa.

The artists also performed the Kalmyk folk song “Eejin Dun”, a song expressing love and gratitude to mothers. The Elista audience greeted the performance with prolonged applause.

At the concert, Chair of the Government of the Republic of Kalmykia Gilyana Boskhomdzhieva read out a welcome address from Head of Kalmykia Batu Khasikov. The address highlighted the choir’s role in preserving the spiritual and musical traditions of the Sretensky Monastery.

The performance was one of the concluding events of the anniversary programme on 9–10 September, which brought together worship services, commemorative events, public meetings and concerts.
