Archbishop Justinian Announced the Date Honoring the Appearance of the Savior

Regional media reported the blessing of 10 September as the annual Church commemoration, while the historical anniversary falls on 11 September.

Archbishop Justinian of Elista and Kalmykia reported in an interview with Foma magazine that His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ gave his blessing for the commemoration of the Appearance of Christ the Savior in Elista on September 10.

The event took place on September 11, 1946, and the previously announced anniversary program covers the period from September 9 to September 11, 2026. These dates belong to different parts of the commemorative calendar and should not be mixed.

The final schedule of services and social events should be published only after the official program of the Diocese of Elista and Kalmykia and the organizing committee is published.
